Hail, Queen of mercy: our life, our sweetness, and our hope, hail!
To you we cry, we children of Eve.  To you we send up our sighs and 
weeping in this vale of tears.  O you our advocate, turn therefore on 
us your merciful eyes.  After this, our exile, show to us Jesus, blessed

When the virgin most wise, who brought holy joy to the world,
transcended the spheres, leaving the stars beneath her shining feet,
and, streaming sparkling light, surrounded by the nine Orders and
received by the thrice-three Hierarchies, she, patroness of suppliants,
stood before the face of the almighty God.  
Say, you who inhabit the dazzling heights of Heaven--Captains of spirits,
Archangels and Angels, souls and thrones of virtue, you princes and holy
armies, and you powers and dominions of Heaven, fiery Cherubim and 
Seraphim created from the word--say whether such a feeling of joy ever 
overwhelmed you, as when you saw the assembly of the mother of the 
everlasting almighty.  She is the queen, powerful in heaven, on land,
and at sea, whose divine majesty is praised and adored by every spirit
and human being.

You, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, we call upon you to pour out to her
chaste ears our prayers and entreaties for the Holy Empire and for the
Emperor Maximilian.  May the ominipotent virgin grant that he conquer his
wicked enemies, and restore peace to the peoples and safety to the lands.
With devoted skill Georgius, the Emperor's precentor and kapellmeister,
directs this hymn to you.  The governor of the province of Austria, 
diligent in all things, earnestly commends himself to your tender joys,
Mother.  The highest place, however, belongs to Him by whom you were taken
up, so that you shine beautiful as the moon, as excellent as the sun.
